Product Instructions Some of our libraries are packaged as . rar and as multi-part . rar files. . rar is a data compression format similar to . zip. Its more efficient than zip, and it offers the capability to split a product into a multi-part file that automatically recompiles itself into the proper folder structure when it gets extracted. Instructions for opening a . rar file: First download and install a free . rar extraction utility. Any of the top his will work well. If you have a multi-part . rar file, you'll see one file with a . rar extension, and then a few other files that have . r00 an . r01 extensions. Make sure they are all fully downloaded and place them in the same folder or on your desktop. Once all of the pieces are in the same folder, use the extraction utility to open the file with the . rar extension. If you don't have or don't want to use a paypal account you can just input your credit card and click the "review and continue" button. We had a rare opportunity to record baseball crowds with a full access media pass for what turned out to be a deep playoff run. The recording setup was a very unique quad rig that had Microtech Gefell M930 large diaphragm condensers in the front and either small diaphragm condensers or PZM mics in the rears. The huge crowd experienced every emotion over the several games that were recorded. The home team got blown out of a game, they came back and won a game in dramatic fashion, and then dominated a game from start to finish. Players made huge defensive plays, hit massive home runs, and even got ejected from the game. Some games the roof was open, and others it was closed, which altered the sound quite a bit. After the series ended we went through the painstaking task of sorting through and editing dozens of hours of recordings. We separated clips into broad groups of cheers, boos, idles, callouts, chants, and other reactions. Then we drilled in deeper to sort each group by intensity and to continue to prune out any elements that didn’t belong. We removed copyrighted music, team specific chants, annoying people, audio blemishes, and anything else that stood out in an unpleasant way. Analog Interface is a powerful and diverse custom UI sound effects library made by recording, performing and manipulating outboard analog subtractive synthesizers and physical hardware. These pads were very worn in and used, so they have a very unique characteristic to the sounds they make. Capturing the pads outdoors kept the natural reflections and context of how the are typically used intact - essential for helping them to sit correctly in any mix. Movements captured include slams and impacts, drags in the dirt, helmet clacks, and impact with grunts, along with loads of general rattling and jingling, with dozens of iterations. Lockdown is a performable Kontakt instrument and sound effects library designed to create a variety of simple or complex lockdown mechanism sounds with a wide array of different latches and impacts. We brought in dozens of props big and small to generate a massive array of source material recorded at 24 bit 192kHz. These included cameras, carabiners, wrenches, rack cases, knives, canopeners, tongs, crimpers, solder suckers, file cabinet doors, vehicle doors and servos and much more - all with multiple unique performances per set. Great care was taken to record each performance with the highest sonic quality and detail. We chose a pair of MKH50s in XY as our primary setup, creating a big, clean stereo image on every sound. Lockdown is divided into 2 parts: elements and designed. The elements collection has all of the source recordings in their unaltered states. Each sound is edited, cleaned, volume matched and carefully metadata tagged. The designed collection uses samples based on the elements recordings that have been transformed into entirely new and different sounds using heavy processing and layering. It was created to produce interesting design and transition sounds quickly and easily. Lockdown includes over 500 fully lockdowns of all sizes and scales. Its 1300cc displacement is right in the sweet spot between the zippier 750 models and the massive 1800 road warriors. Swell is a performable Kontakt instrument and sound effects library designed to create natural sounding cymbal swells with a variety of different cymbals and performances. We brought in a professional drummer to perform each of the swells and on during the recording sessions we covered a wide variety of cymbal shapes and sizes. Cymbals included gongs, orchestral suspended cymbals, crashes, chinas, sizzle ride, and others. Great care was taken to record each performance with the highest sonic quality and detail. We chose a relatively reflection free space with a super low noisefloor and recorded through John Hardy M1 preamps for the big clean gain. Schoeps and Neumann mics were used to get full coverage of each cymbal. Swell is divided into 2 parts: natural and designed. The Porsche 911 GT3 library is a series of recordings that were made on a track just outside of Houston on media day for the Effort race team. These are 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 Rs that race on the Pirelli World Challenge series. Each car has a naturally aspirated, water cooled, four valve 4. 0 liter flat six cylinder Porsche engine. These cars create 500 horse power from the factory and race with E10 fuel. The transmission is a Porsche six gear racing box with sequential shift mechanism. With full access to the vehicles and the track, we recorded up to 13 channels on every movement. The Bell 407 and Bell 429 are some of the most ubiquitous aircraft in the modern sky. These two models have been used by police, news, emergency rescue crews, hospitals, private individuals, and militaries the world over since 1996. They are fast, agile, comfortable and flexible. We were granted exclusive access to the airport used to train 407 and 429 pilots in the hometown of Bell’s corporate headquarters – Ft Worth, Texas. This airport is a purely industrial airport, meaning that no commercial passenger jets fly in or out of it. This reduction in air traffic provided excellent recording conditions. During our time on the tarmac, we captured pristine movements like starts, hovers, aways, returns, spin-ups, and spin-downs. We recorded interior and exterior on the tarmac and captured many beautiful long tails in and out. There was no rush, and we took our time getting what we needed. Once we had the tarmac coverage, we headed to the training area a few miles away. In this spot pilots in training practice flight maneuvers like hovers, turns, and the very tricky autorotation landing. To do an autorotation, the main engine is shut off while the helicopter is in flight, and the freewheeling rotors keep turning purely on wind friction. Once safely on the ground, the helicopters would spin back up and take off again. It is an amazing thing to see and to record. Signal Return is a performable kontakt instrument and soundset designed to create a wide variety of interesting and textured sounds. All of the source material comes from recordings of various devices feeding back into themselves either electrically or acoustically. No software based speaker emulators or distortions were used in the creation of these sounds. We covered all of the classic forms of feedback including an SM58 through a PA, an electric guitar through a tube amped miked with an SM57 and a Royer 121, a set of Sony headphones feeding into themselves, and a pair of Uniden walkie talkies with both mics open too close to one another. We also did a series of line level loops with devices like a sansamp bass driver DI, a Danelectro Honeytone amp, and a Roland Cube amp. The line level loops were also run through guitar pedals and pitch/delay plugins to further bend and distort the looped signals. Each of the samples are fully embedded with soundminer metadata. The metadata also includes spectrograms of each individual sound to make combing through the sounds that much quicker. These days, rodeos are polluted with big PAs pumping rock and pop music through the speakers while the cowboys ride the bulls and buck the broncs. People watch through cell phones and keep a safe distance from the action. Horse ranches are overrun with the sounds of 4 wheelers and dirt bikes on the tracks nearby. The recordings we have come from before that time. Years ago we rolled out to the rodeo with full access, a portable DAT machine, and a determination to catch every angle we could take a mic to. The house band played from a balcony unamplified while the cowboys rode the bulls and the crowd cheered. The children rode sheep in a sport called “mutton busting” and the women mounted stagecoaches and raced around the arena at breakneck speed... . and when the show was over the crowd stood up to leave, but the cowboys were still competing – so they kept riding. The steer wrestling contest happened in an almost empty arena. We were there — up close, capturing every gate release, the sounds of the cow struggling to stay on his feet, and the single trainer cheering the cowboys on. The dirt and the grit and the steel clacking around were all there, exposed and clean and in their native environment. After the rodeo we went to a local horse ranch and kept on rolling. Our hospital ambiences were recorded during one extensive day long shoot where we were granted access to one of the nation’s top medical campuses. There are surprisingly few “hospital machines” making beeping noises at any given location within the building, which gives these sounds the flexibility to be used in any large institutional building. Many public and not so public locations in and around the campus were covered, including: exterior traffic with a helicopter taking off large 3 story lobby area multiple nurse’s stations the family waiting room the cafeteria the pathology lab an operating room prep Each location was recorded in MS with the classic Schoeps CMC6 and 8 microphones in double MS. Motion textures is a broad library with a narrow purpose. This is a design package built for drawing sonic lines and creating gently moving sonic textures. The concept is that consistent sound of friction will translate well to visual design elements that have CG and text movement on screen. We recorded the friction sounds of dozens of small to medium sized props in constant motion. Major categories include metal, plastic, cloth, wood and skin. Some of the most interesting sounds came from the props that had small cavities such as the spray can lid and the water bottle. The constant changing of the cavity state relative to the mics creates strange vocal sounds. Once the sounds were recorded we employed a proprietary smoothing process as a second pass to the sounds and provided them in addition to the original textures. These smoothed out sounds still have the organic quality of the original recordings, but with far fewer transient events. The forgotten zither is one of the most complex and varied sounding instruments that we've come across in our junk shop travels. This is a fretless German harp zither, which differs in quality significantly from concert zithers, which have several strings with fretted necks beneath them. This version was manufactured by Friederich Menzenhauer, the father of the zither in the US. Zithers of this kind are notoriously difficult to identify because they contain no distinguishing marks on the bodies themselves, and the only branding is on the paper label deteriorating inside the soundhole. Our version had been worn beyond all repair through decades of age and neglect. Broken strings, creaky wood and a great resonant cavity gave us a massive collection of sounds ready to be bent and twisted. We did much more than just throw a couple of mics up and pluck - this instrument was recorded with a stethoscope mic, a lav inside the cavity, overhead xy, room mics, and more. We banged, scraped, bowed, ebowed, and thumped every last noise out of this one in three separate sessions. The end result was a collection of about 5 Gb of edited stereo 24 bit 96k sound. The Kontakt instruments are where the real magic happens with this instrument. There are presets for horror string hits, angelic and demonic pads, old creaks and more. The Oliver Typewriter Company was a big player in American industry from the turn of the 20th century until they stopped manufacturing typewriters 1959. The specific typewriter that we acquired was a No. 9, which was made between 1915 and 1922 in Chicago. Despite being over 90 years old, the one we found is still in excellent shape. Oliver pioneered the "down-strike" method of typewriter design, which brought the typeheads down from above and allowed the typist to see the entire page as it was being typed. This open air design led to the bowed arms that would occasionally jam if one types to fast. The typewriter had a loose front plate that was very interesting sounding, and the keys gave us that classic typwriter "clack". We miked this instrument as three seperate mono perspectives, and each is split out in the sound collection. The front perspective came from a Schoeps CMC6. MK41 setup aimed up through the keys and pretty tight on the typewriter. The back perspective came from a Schoeps CMC6. MK4 setup and was sitting behind the carriage aimed at the back and a little further away. The third perspective was an AT4050 in omni about 5 feet away in the room for that nice, distant wide sound. This was an expressive and interesting device, and it gave up tons of interesting noises as we clicked, yanked, shook and dropped it. The Burroughs corporation has been around since 1886, and was an early force in the adding machine, check stamper and typewriter industries. The Burroughs Protectograph that we acquired was manufactured around the turn of the 20th century and had a single unique function - to stamp and emboss checks for banks. This version had an electric mechanism that would move large printheads down through a ribbon and would stamp a check hard and repeatedly for as long as the print key was held down. Our machine was acquired in perfect working condition. Its keys have a short through but a satisfying clack, and the punch mechanism is a huge whir stamp sound than can cycle if the punch button is held down. The last Remington Rand branded business machine rolled off the line in 1958. The adding machine that we acquired was an electric version in good working condition. Remington Rand also manufactured things like shavers, pistols and calculators. Our adding machine has a big electronic mechanism for the summing function and nice heavy clacks for the regular keys. It also had some very sticky metal plates that would occasionally get stuck and then pop loose with a big resonant ringing sound. This specific defect made an incredibly interesting sound that is very unique to this specific machine's wear and tear. As with the Burroughs Protectograph we miked it with three different mono perspectives to produce three very different sounds on each move. We used Schoeps CMC6/MK4 mics on the front and back and an AT4050 for the wide perspective in mono. The close perspectives are great for big thick clicks and mechanisms, and the wide is excellent for use in one offs for bgfx tracks. File List EULA
